Diplomate, ACVIM (Oncology)

Ashley Smith, DVM

Dr. Ashley Smith is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She attained her DVM from Tufts University in 2014 and pursued a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at University of Florida. Her specialty internship and medical oncology residency training were completed at Auburn University where she also received a master’s degree in veterinary biomedical science. Dr. Smith was awarded diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2019. She served as a faculty member at Auburn University for several years after completing her residency training, ultimately culminating in her promotion to Associate Clinical Professor. Dr. Smith enjoys research and has authored several publications, oral and poster abstracts, and a book chapter. She was co-chair of the rotating internship program at Auburn University, and she was heavily engaged in the training of students, interns, and residents.

Dr. Smith first joined the SEVO family as a locum (relief) oncologist and was encouraged to transition into private practice after falling in love with the staff, patients, and Jacksonville area. Her clinical interests include lymphoma, osteosarcoma, electrochemotherapy, and palliative care/improving quality of life for cancer patients.

Dr. Smith’s position with SEVO is currently hybrid in that she spends time practicing in Jacksonville as well as performing telehealth. She is married to a die-hard Auburn fan who is happy to call Auburn his primary residence. They have 6 wonderful, sometimes crazy animals: three dogs (Grace, Willow, Kimber) and three cats (Tory, Alvin, Epi). In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys traveling, cooking, and following Baltimore Ravens football. Her favorite trip was to Slovenia for part of her honeymoon.
